Child Okeford Bell Ringing Group

Child Okeford Bell Ringing Group

Lockdown has not stopped the Child Okeford Bell Ringers who have remained active  (& innovative).
VJ Day 75th Commemoration.

VE Day Commemoration.

On 8 May, Bob Crighton rang and conducted  a Quarter Peal of Plain Bob Doubles on his I-Pad in 42 minutes, using the Mobel App to ring  all the other bells.  It was rung to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, and to remember Gunner Douglas Percy Arnold, a Child Okeford bellringer killed in action in WWII.  Rung during the Covid 19 lockdown when the Church was closed.

About the Ringers.

There is a small but keen band of bellringers who ring at St Nicholas’ Parish Church on a Monday evening at 1930 and for Sunday services as required.

Anyone interested in learning this addictive 500 year old art please contact

Rose Shaw (01258 268934) or Bob Crighton (01258 860650).

Visiting ringers will be very welcome at our Monday practice, but best contact us first to confirm that we are ringing.

These are the bell mats the group made earlier this year. Not only do they tell us the number of the bell we are ringing but more importantly they prevent the ropes wearing when they strike the tower floor during ringing. They also match the red, white and blue of the rope sallies
