Short Mat Bowls

Our friendly club has now been going for over 20 years and is open to anyone from Child Okeford, Hanford, Manston and Hammon who wish to play this fascinating game.

After a period of over a year away from the game because of Covid the club is back in action. Normally we play in the Village Hall on Monday afternoons (2.00 to 5.00 p.m.) and Thursday evenings (7.30 to 10.00 p.m.) and take part in the Blackmore Vale league. The exceptional circumstances of the last year mean that we are taking things slowly this year and are currently meeting on Monday afternoons only from 2-5pm.

Normally [again] we hold several in-house competitions on selected Saturdays throughout the year, social evenings based on the game of New Age Kurling and enjoy an annual Christmas Buffet Dinner. Currently these social evenings and competitions are ‘on hold’ until the country returns to some kind of normality.

The Kurling set is also available for hire by non-members.

The annual subscription is £25 and members also pay £3 for each session they play.

New prospective members from the local community are very welcome and can have three free sessions, with no obligation, using the Club’s equipment to see if the sport appeals to them. There is no age limit, upper or lower, and we can explain how to play the game.

If you are interested just drop in on Monday afternoon or if you would like to know more ring Mike Brown [Chairman] on (01258) 860357
