I suspect that many people, like myself, never believed that Durweston bridge would be open on the 22nd July when it was supposed to. We were right because it has opened a day early . Congratulations must go to Dorset Highways and the various contracters who have worked so hard to achieve this. Well done them. The works are not completed by any means and doubtless there will be further inconvenience but the reopening of the bridge must come as a welcome relief to all, especially those in Duck Street and Station Road who have had to put up with some pretty appalling traffic in the last month. Speed watch recorded 249 [one way trips] on 2nd July between 08.30 and 09.30 when normally they would only have 80 or so. Relative peace descends on the village once more.
