On Tuesday 15th of March, Dorset Council’s Northern Planning Committee voted unanimously to refuse the Reserved Matters application for Haywards Lane, application P/RES/2021/01582.
The decision notice is available within the application documents when viewed in Dorset Council’s planning portal. Within the notice, the following reason is given for refusal:
The proposed layout of the development would result in a linear formation of parking to the south of plots 7-10, and views through the site from Haywards Lane would be focused on areas of parking and hardstanding which would detract from the rural character of the area. The layout of the development would also result in the proposed affordable units not being pepper-potted amongst the proposed market housing and they would not be indistinguishable from the other houses on site. Furthermore, the proposed species of trees on the site would not be compatible with the layout of the proposed residential properties onsite. The proposed development would, therefore, fail to comply with Policies 8, 24 and 25 of North Dorset Local Plan and Section 3 of Child Okeford Village Design Statement.
Outline planning is still granted for the site under application 2/2019/0318/OUT for up to 26 houses.
