The council have announced that The Hollow will be subject to a 24 hour closure from 13th January to 19th January. [ The official notice said until the 19th but the signs in place at the Village Hall and the Cross say the 21st so who knows….] The reason is said to be drainage works but hopefully they will be resurfacing afterwards. There will be no through traffic and no parking in the area. The section of the road that will be closed appears to be from the junction at Upper street with the Hollow as far down as Portman Drive. Further details can be found on the Dorset Council website www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
There will be no pedestrian access. Pedestrians should use the footpath with the kissing gate between the terraced cottages which leads to Rectory Lane to access the centre of the village. Those unable to use the kissing gate are able to use the footpath leading left in Nutmead Close, up to Apple Acre and follow the footpath up to Rectory Lane.
